Has the largest of large auto insurers taken one more step toward minimizing glass claims, while further destroying “insurance” pricing along the way?

Well, it seems so with the ol’ Farm announcing last week that as of this Thursday, it will only pay "for the most competitively priced piece of glass available that will return the damaged vehicle to pre-loss condition regardless of what piece of glass is actually installed." (Translation: If it is cheap, its for me and yee!)

It may have taken a couple of years, but the Farm apparently successfully changed its policy language in enough states such that it now reads something close to the following: "You agree that replacement glass need not have any insignia, logo, trademark, etching, or other marking that was on the replaced glass."

And, the communiqué encourages those still ankle-grabbing at the behest of the Farm to advise customers seeking “dealer glass” (you know the stuff they lost) "of the potential for out of pocket costs." (Translation: You want it sir, you pay the difference.)

So, in one pronouncement, has the Farm eliminated some glass claims? Oh, yeah, the only question is how many. Has it also reduced its glass costs for those that remain (otherwise known as “revenue” for all shops accepting what the Farm doles out)? You betcha!!!

Hey DRPs, if the Farm would do this to all their glass ankle-grabbers, what chance do you have? :D

I know, I know the courts and legislatures got your back. LMAO

Then again, what do I know... :D

Have you seen some of the windshields coming out of Mexico? Some is so seedy and wavy you get seasick just trying to drive. Wonder if Rust would accept one of them on his personal car?

So, emphasize "PRICE", and the providers are required to use the cheapest available. What about the offshore glass that has no markings, including correct DOT etch? I guess that qualifies since State Farm says 'no marking' is required.

And who is supposed to determine the pre loss condition? The installer? Please Mr. State Farm, define preloss so that these spineless idiots can comply and do your job for you and get way off into insurance business.....hell, they are nothing but sub contractors regardless of all the agreements you write trying to get them to jump thru their grommets that are already turned wrong side out. And guess what? Ultimately yo is accountable for subcontractors of your choice....assuming anyone wakes up.

OH, and by the way, glass is a'recognized' no question about it, safety item if that means anything anymore....

Man on man, I believe State Farm is going to keep on until even their reach exceeds their grasp.

Glass Industry?...

Didn't that entity become extinct eons ago? I do believe that the last of that "industry" died after the great "meat giveaways" of the last decade. :D
