Scott says in few words what is beginning to resound in the minds of people today and his opinions are relevant to the ongoing battles consumers and in our case, repairers are dealt every day.
Trite, but timing is almost everything. And there seems to be the beginning of a real awareness by the great unwashed that while all have been lulled into good times, the actuality is that everyone has been sold that 'big' is good for everyone? So what that laws meant to protect our right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness has been skewed because that will "help" everyone? That is a big lie that as long term participants and opponents, we have observed and endured.
The Dallas Morning News is no different than any other big news group and they have to be careful not to step too hard on advertisers or influential folk's toes, but recently they, like most printed forms have begun to realize their time is limited unless the change their focus to retain readership. The DMN has embarked on a more 'investigative' nature much as the WSJ and the Chicago Tribune, a long time favorite of mine, and just this morning took on the abysmal performance of our state in approval of a huge polluting mess in El Paso, a copper smelter.
Prominent in the long article was Baker Botts taken to task for their off the scope lobbying for the smelter, which is almost unheard of because of the deep political connections of the firm (James Baker). So, I think this is going to be a very interesting time and we may just get to see some fish fried.
One can never tell nor predict what will come in the next few years but bigger catfish have fried in their own fat and the time could be close at hand to strike the match.
