Your local friends are at it again. While this bill has virtually no chance as currently drafted, it bears watching. Every legislature is looking for ways to raise funds without taxing everybody. So don’t be surprised if when the dust settles all that remains of this inept effort is hefty charge (read; TAX) to remain in the collision repair business.

I may even make the effort to appear and get into the committee hearing if allowed. I have made my opposition known and why to at least one committee member who happens to be my district representative on the house version of the bill all to local association's combined chagrin I would speculate.

you cannot be kept out of a hearing. I was at one in Iowa once and one lone consumer showed up... he was a retired guy who was hit by Progressive and ended up with a aftermarket rear bumper that waved like a politician in a parade. He read the notice in the paper on the hearing a month before and put it on his refrigerator door so he would not forget.

When he asked to speak and started to give his personal experience with aftermarket parts, Bob Hurn and two SF lobbiest started to pack their breifcases and headed for the door... it was all over for them on that day. ;)
